This tradeoff leaves the insects protected like a tank when roaming the forest floor but means they are less skilled in the air and prone to aerial accidents. There is no grass here. A tropical rainforest typically has a number of layers each with different plants and animals adapted for life in that particular area. Leaves that fall to the forest floor decay quickly.
