Puddle On The Floor From The Central Air Near Furnace
This ice eventually melts and often creates too much of a puddle for the drain pan to contain resulting in a bit of a flood.
Puddle on the floor from the central air near furnace. What does it mean if my furnace is leaking water. When you see water puddling around the furnace with the a c running you have a clogged condensate drain tube. That water gets channeled to the drain line most often a 3 4 inch white pvc pipe and then flows to a floor drain sump pump or another type of drain. Route it to the floor drain and secure it with tubing straps.
If your air conditioner shares an internal drainage pipe or system with your furnace a clog can be a good possible cause of standing water on your floor. Condensation from air conditioning coils contains bacteria that can form slime and clog the condensate pan drain tube. If your air filter is dirty ice will form on the evaporator coils. If you haven t had your air filter changed in the last few months this could be the problem behind the puddle.
During normal operation your air conditioner produces a significant amount of water in the form of condensation from your evaporator coil. It makes sense to check the plumbing to be sure but the water may be coming from your furnace. When your air conditioning runs it produces condensation. These clogs can form easily without regular service and do require a professional to check them.
Most times we blame a plumbing failure as the cause however don t rule out other sources.
